SUPPORT OF GRANT APPLICATION FOR A PROPOSED YOUTH ENGAGEMENT STRATEGY KNOWN AS YES!

I understand that the Mr Phil Walcott is applying for a grant for his proposed Youth Engagement Strategy known as YES!

On behalf of the Alice Springs Town Council I wish to offer my support for Mr Phil Walcott in his application for a grant from the Department of Human Services.

Mr Walcott has designed a commendable project based on expertise he has gained from his years working with youth and families as well as advocating for them and their communities in the Northern Territory.

Having lived in Alice Springs for twenty-four years, Mr Walcott is well-respected, profiled and engaged with the local community at both a professional and social level. He supports many local activities and fundraisers and engages in a variety of volunteer roles. Mr Walcott sits on five local Boards and Committees of Governance in executive positions and is very proactive in his approach to civic issues.

Mr Walcott has been evolving his YES!!! Project for almost twelve months aiming to engage a ‘whole-of-community’ approach to social issues impacting Alice Springs and the region. He demonstrates a real passion for the people and is a proud advocate for the town and all it has to offer.

The YES! Proposal is most valid and places a belief in the capacity of children and their families to thrive when given access to learning in a manner that allows their participation. This sets in place a whole of community enterprise for a supported lifespan approach.

Mr Walcott knows his jurisdiction well and this is reflected in how the project has been skillfully designed with the capacity to encourage participation, individual input and ownership. Mr Walcott has the credentials and personal interest to ensure the YES! Project is successful.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further enquiries.

Yours sincerely,

Damien Ryan

Re: Youth Engagement Strategy YES!!!

The Collaboration for Alcohol Related Developmental Disorders (CARDD) is keen to endorse Mr. Phil Walcott’s proposed Youth Engagement Strategy known as YES!!! Mr. Walcott has designed a commendable project based on expertise he has gained from his years working with youth and families as well as advocating for them and their communities in the Northern Territory.

The YES!!! Proposal is most valid and places a belief in the capacity of children and their families to thrive when given access to learning in a manner that allows their participation. This sets in place a whole of community enterprise for a supported lifespan approach. The intention to focus on all geographic areas from within eight pods of rural, remote, urban and city is central to it as is the inclusion of all service providers and stakeholders in recognition of their collective expertise and ability to access to all players. Thus these groups become that desired ‘whole of community’ required for maximum success.

Mr. Walcott knows his jurisdiction well and this is reflected in how the project has been skillfully crafted to produce an innovative model with the capacity to encourage participation, individual input and ownership. The model has the potential to address clinical and social solutions to meet current urgent public health needs. It will ensure future initiatives in fact do improve health care, policies and educational services that promote family growth and wellbeing. His evaluation process is academically sound testing agreed deliverables to better allocate resources for future priorities.

Mr. Walcott has the credentials and personal interest to ensure the YES!!! Project is successful. It is sorely needed.

Kind Regards
